Porchlight
Privacy policy
Porchlight does not collect, store or share any personal data. Everything it does happens on your Mac.
What Porchlight reads
- Your repo, on your Mac. Only the folders you choose, to find which services your app uses and where your code meets a release. It reads manifests, lockfiles, workflows and code. It never opens
.envfiles, and it never sends code anywhere. - Public pages. Vendors' status pages, release notes and deprecation pages, and Node's and endoflife.date's schedules.
- Your domain. When you give one, its DNS (through Google's public DNS over HTTPS), its certificate and its registration (through rdap.org).
Your own services
If you connect them, Porchlight reads your own GitHub workflow runs and checks your Stripe API, with read-only tokens you enter. If you connect your Atlassian Statuspage, it posts a customer notice there only when you press the button. Tokens are kept in your Mac’s Keychain and are never sent anywhere but the service they belong to.
What leaves your Mac
Nothing comes to us. Porchlight has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting service. Its requests go straight from your Mac to the public pages and services above.
Stored on your Mac
What Porchlight has read, its verdicts and your apps’ stacks stay in its own storage on your Mac, for up to 90 days. You can stop watching an app in Settings, which removes it and its keys. Everything is removed if you delete Porchlight.
Reports
A report or stack inventory is made only when you ask for one, and saved where you choose.
Notifications
Porchlight asks before sending any. They’re shown by macOS on your Mac and are never sent anywhere.
Purchases
The optional unlock is handled by Apple through the App Store. We don’t receive your payment details. Apple’s privacy policy applies to purchases.
